RCN Business unveils managed LAN service

RCN Business, which provides high-speed network services in Boston, Chicago, Lehigh Valley (PA), New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC, has added Managed LAN to its roster of enterprise products and services. The new offering is packaged as a switch management service for RCN Business Hosted Voice and Ethernet products.

The Managed LAN service helps configure, deploy, monitor, and manage the RCN Voice/Ethernet switch. The service offers a single point of contact for voice WAN and LAN management. No configuration or expertise is required from the customer, and switches are monitored around the clock by RCN.

Benefits include a reduction in the need for IT staff for WAN/LAN management, "seamless" addition of new Hosted Voice seats during expansion, increased reliability, minimal network downtime with guaranteed service-level agreement (SLA) response times, and lower operational costs, RCN Business asserts.

"RCN Business is committed to offering our customers best-in-class products and services, including Managed LAN to help businesses lower their costs, while enabling IT managers to focus more on their day-to-day responsibilities."

RCN Business will offer the service in conjunction with its Ethernet and voice products in all of its current markets. The company has priced the Managed LAN services, in combination with router management, at $99 per month.
