Google Fiber has added Provo, UT, to the list of markets in which it will offer its 1-Gbps broadband access network service available to small businesses. The company says it also will expand its small business service footprint in its original market, Kansas City (see "Google Fiber to offer small business services in Kansas City via FTTP").
The Kansas City expansion in includes areas of what Google Fibe termed "Kansas City North and South."
In both Provo and Kansas City, along with Austin, TX, businesses can now sign up as part of the Google Fiber's Early Access program. The service will cost $100 per month, guaranteed for a year. The service includes Wi-Fi, gigabit routing, firewall protection, and online network management via the operator's MyFiber service. Participating businesses will not be charged a construction fee. Static IP address capability is available, with one address priced at $20 monthly and five addresses priced at $30 monthly.
Google Fiber entered the Provo market in 2013 when it acquired the iProvo municipal fiber network (see "Google offers to buy iProvo FTTH network").
Google Fiber offers residential fiber to the home (FTTH) services in all three markets. It has announced plans to expand its residential services offerings in the Atlanta, Charlotte, Nashville, and Raleigh-Durham metro areas, with several other markets in its sights (see "Google Fiber to bring FTTH to four southeastern cities, looks at five more"). The company did not indicate which of these might also see a business services offering.
