Test and measurement instrument developer Sumix Corp. has released its MAX Series Interferometers, which the company asserts are the first USB 3.0 interferometers available.

The MAX Series can test single-fiber patch cords and pigtails, bare ferrules and bare fiber, MT ferrules, and MTP/MPO patch cords. Built on the foundation laid by the company's SMX series, the new interferometers offer improved fixturing for easy fiber-optic connector insertion, Sumix says. The MAX instruments also deliver the speed advantages of USB 3.0 while providing the same high-resolution and high-contrast optics of the SMX line.

The instruments leverage the Sumix MaxInspect Software for additional ease and accuracy, Sumix adds. Overall, the MAX Series reflects the company's emphasis on instruments that meet stringent accuracy requirements while being easy to use, Sumix says.

"Sumix has always been focused on providing innovative solutions to the fiber-optic industry," said Dr. Farhad Towfiq, Sumix president and CEO. "MAX devices continue this legacy with the highest measurement quality, ease of use, and industry-leading testing speeds."
