EATEL brings GIG 1-Gbps FTTH to Louisiana

Louisiana service provider EATEL has launched its GIG Internet service in "select areas" of its home parishes, Ascension and Livingston. The symmetrical 1-Gbps service leverages EATEL's fiber to the home (FTTH) network.

Louisiana service provider EATEL has launched its GIG Internet service in "select areas" of its home parishes, Ascension and Livingston. The symmetrical 1-Gbps service leverages EATEL's fiber to the home (FTTH) network.

Subscribers can sign up for $119.95 a month, EATEL says. They must also take the carrier's LightWave TV service. Taxes, fees, and surcharges are not included in the $119.95 price.

"EATEL is proud to introduce our new GIG Internet service to Ascension and Livingston Parish area residents," said Scott Thompson, EATEL's president. "With this unique class of service, residents can instantly connect to their cloud services, video chat in real-time without buffering and stream high-definition movies without delay -- all at the same time."

EATEL operates a 100% fiber-optic network in the two parishes. It was founded in 1935.
