Electronic component supplier Pulse Electronics Corp. has unveiled a pair of G.fast functional isolation transformers for use with Broadcom's G.fast chipset (see "Broadcom debuts end-to-end G.fast offering"). The BX4500LNL and BX4500LNLT transformers offer an operating bandwidth of 2 MHz to 100 MHz with target speeds up to 1 Gbps.

The G.fast transformers measure 8x8x10 mm (length x width x height) with a leakage inductance of less than 0.4 µH. When matched with a Microsemi line driver, the transformers enable Broadcom's BCM652xx DSP and BCM659xx AFE G.fast chipsets to deliver high-speed broadband access per ITU-T G.9701.

The BX4500LNL transformer is packaged in trays, while the BX4500LNLT is packaged in tape and reel. They are EN60950 functional isolation compliant, 250 Vrms, and RoHS-6 compliant SMD products.

"These transformers have improved longitudinal balance and provide excellent total harmonic distortion performance on a very compact platform," asserted Ronan Kelly, product marketing manager at Pulse Electronics. "The G.fast series supports Broadcom's chipset technology to drive data rates up to 150 Mbps/downstream and 100 Mbps/upstream on a single line."

The G.fast transformers are available with a lead-time of 8 weeks. Evaluation samples are available immediately.
