Spanish intelligent network technology supplier Telnet Redes Inteligentes has unveiled its latest GPON optical network terminal (ONT), the WaveAccess 3021. The GPON ONT features an integrated gateway and provides interoperability with a variety of optical line terminals (OLTs, including, of course, TELNET's) to provide fiber to the home (FTTH) service providers greater flexibility.
Use of the WaveAccess 3021 helps fiber-optic broadband providers avoid vendor lock-in, Telnet asserts. It also supports a variety of in-home transmission options via b/g/n WiFi, three GbE ports, and one POTS port. The use of Broadcom's most advanced chipsets enables the ONT to support wire-speed WiFi/LAN switching, Telnet asserts.
The WaveAccess 3021 is generally available and has already been deployed in service provider networks that leverage Telnet's OLTs as well as those from other systems houses, the company says.
The ONT joins Telnet's other FTTH offerings, including GPON Doctor, a reference tool for interoperability and GPON "traffic sniffing," the SmartOLT and its companion TGMS management system, the GPON Tester installer tool. The company also recently announced a hybrid GPON/G.fast distribution point unit (see "Hybrid GPON/G.fast distribution point unveiled by Telnet Redes Inteligentes").
