TDS Telecom taps ADTRAN for gigabit FTTH networks in New Hampshire

Independent telco TDS Telecom is using fiber to the home (FTTH) equipment from ADTRAN Inc. (NASDAQ: ADTN) to support its Fiberville gigabit FTTH service roll out in New Hampshire.

Independent telco TDS Telecom is using fiber to the home (FTTH) equipment from ADTRAN Inc. (NASDAQ: ADTN) to support its Fiberville gigabit FTTH service roll out in New Hampshire.

TDS is deploying its gigabit FTTH network in Merrimack and Hillsborough counties. It appears TDS began its New Hampshire deployments with Calix (see "TDS adds Hollis, NH, to gigabit FTTH roster"), but has either switched FTTH equipment providers or decided on a dual-source strategy.

"Residents are living and working in a global society. Having the ability to connect with their office and coworkers, regardless of location, is critical. With better connectivity, residents have a greater opportunity to telecommute and stay connected with their corporate headquarters," said Ken Paker, CTO and vice president of Network Services at TDS Telecom. "ADTRAN's Gigabit Services Platform allows us to address the specific needs of residents in parts of Merrimack and Hillsborough counties today while providing the underlying infrastructure necessary for development and growth in the future. We are creating a new foundation for how our customers communicate with the rest of the world."

They are creatively engaging with residents and neighborhoods to stimulate interest in Gigabit broadband and building a sense of community around these new services," said Mitch Fleming, vice president, service provider sales, ADTRAN.

TDS is also supplying gigabit FTTH services in parts of Indiana, Minnesota, Tennessee, and Wisconsin. Whether ADTRAN is supplying equipment for these rollouts as well is unclear.
