Bristol Instruments speeds WDM testing with optical wavelength meter

The ability to measure wavelength at a rate as high as 1 kHz is very important to manufacturers of WDM components because it enables more efficient wavelength testing and therefore greater productivity, Bristol Instruments says. The 828B can provide time resolution as short as 1 ms, which means a more detailed wavelength characterization of components such as tunable WDM lasers, the company adds.

In addition to offering high speed, the 828B Optical Wavelength Meter is designed to measure the absolute wavelength of WDM lasers to an accuracy of ±1 pm. Calibration via a built-in wavelength standard results in a confidence level of 99.7% and ensures this accuracy is maintained over long time periods, Bristol Instruments says.
