The new Polatis Series 7000 Optical Circuit Switch (OCS) is a fully non-blocking all-optical matrix switch with up to 384x384 fiber ports.

The new Polatis Series 7000 Optical Circuit Switch (OCS) is a fully non-blocking all-optical matrix switch with up to 384x384 fiber ports. In response to customer demand, Polatis says it has built on the success of the company’s Series 6000 192x192 OCS to double the range of available DirectLight matrix sizes while maintaining leading-edge optical performance. The Series 7000 384x384 represents the industry’s highest port count fiber layer all-optical switch, the company asserts.

The Series 7000 OCS combines high optical performance and matrix size with carrier-class embedded control interfaces that enable seamless integration with any software-defined network (SDN) controller. This combination uniquely enables users to virtualize fiber layer connectivity, transforming what previously required manual switching of fibers to a dynamic, remote, and automated provisioning of the physical network layer.

Polatis says the Series 7000 truly raises the bar in fiber layer switching by extending industry-leading performance and reliability to the highest port-count non-blocking all-optical switch with the most flexible, comprehensive, and proven SDN capabilities.

Judge's comment: "Loss of 1.5 dB, BR [back reflection of] -60 dB are impressive for a 384x384 optical switch."
