LIGHTWAVE and the Paul Anthony Bonenfant Memorial Scholarship

For those of you who do not know Kelly Skelton, Lightwave is proud to introduce him to you.

Kelly is the 15-year-old son of Kathleen Skelton, a 20-year member of the LIGHTWAVE staff. Kelly is known locally for a club he created that supports multiple charities and fundraisers that he is involved with and encourages peers to get involved.

Kelly has organized a 5K for November 23, 2012 (the day after US Thanksgiving) to run between the towns of Bedford and Billerica Massachusetts in an effort to help raise the last $10,000 needed to make the Paul Anthony Bonenfant Memorial Scholarship a reality.

He has been working to have other peers join him on this day. Regardless of peer participation, rain, shine (snow – it is New England), freezing temperatures or amazing-cannot-miss-Black-Friday-deals, Kelly Skelton will be running this Paul Anthony Bonenfant Memorial Scholarship 5K Fundraiser at 10am on November 23, 2012.

Lightwave is proud to support the Paul Anthony Bonenfant Memorial Scholarship, The OSA Foundation, and our own Kelly Skelton (honorary staff member now).

Lightwave will be posting a blog about the 5K activities as well as photos and updates on the support. Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of the year for our industry to be connected on such an important event.

About the Scholarship

Established in 2011 in memory of Paul Anthony Bonenfant, this need-based scholarship will enable undergraduate students enrolled in engineering and/or physical science programs to attend semester-abroad programs offered through their college/university.

The goal of the scholarship is to provide international experience to students as they prepare for professional lives that promote global engagement and collaboration.
