Sumitomo, Omnitron demo automated provisioning of Carrier Ethernet over DPoE

Sumitomo Electric Lightwave and Omnitron Systems have successfully completed interoperability testing of the DEMARC Auto-Configuration (DAC) process with Sumitomo’s FSU7100 DPoE Qualified Series EPON optical line terminal (OLT) and Omnitron’s iConverter GM4 network interface demarcation device.

Jazztel, ZTE test 10G GPON

ZTE Corp. (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ) says it has conducted a full-service commercial 10G GPON test for Spanish network operator Jazztel. The test verified GPON and 10G PON co-existence, which ZTE touts as proof that its 10G PON platform is “capable of supporting any service under all foreseeable scenarios.”

Korea’s Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) has developed three new products that it plans to unveil at OFC 2014 next month: a TO-can type 43G receiver optical sub-assembly (ROSA), an 8×10G transmitter optical sub-assembly (TOSA), and a 16-channel frame-based GPON reach extender.

The investment firm set the stage for the mash up by announcing the leadership team of the new Coriant, with Tellabs President and CEO Dan Kelly the odd executive out. Meanwhile, Marlin has decided to spin Tellabs’ optical access activities into a separate business during the first quarter of this year.

WDM-PON field trial in Austria supports gigabit broadband

ADVA Optical Networking (FSE: ADV) says it has partnered with Energie AG Oberösterreich Data GmbH and ELCON Systemtechnik GmbH in a WDM-PON trial in Austria. The trial is designed to assess WDM-PON technology for next-generation residential broadband access by using the technology to offer uncontended gigabit connectivity to residential subscribers.
