How AI is influencing the optical industry growth

March 22, 2024
Lightwave's OFC 2024 will hold a panel addressing the role of AI during an interactive roundtable discussion.

AI has become the talk of the town in the optical and networking industry. It’s hard not to notice the headlines and market predictions about AI.

A recent Statista report forecasts that the size of the AI market is projected to reach $306 billion in 2024. Likewise, a PwC report revealed that AI could contribute up to $15.7 trillion to the global economy in 2030, more than the current output of China and India combined.

Traditional and data center providers are enhancing their optical network capabilities with 800G and, eventually, 1 Tbps speeds. AI also allows service providers to manage their networks and services proactively.

At OFC, Lightwave will hold a special event highlighting the research we conducted on how AI will drive future growth in the optical networking industry.

Led by Lightwave’s Editor-in-Chief Sean Buckley, the panel will feature industry experts from five companies squarely in the networking space: AFL, Enablence Technologies, Infinera, Lumentum and Viavi:

·       Lucas Mays, Product Line Manager, Splicers and Test Equipment for AFL

·       Todd Haugen, CEO of Enablence Technologies

·       Walid Wakim, Chief Technology Officer – Systems and Network Solutions for Infinera

·       Dr. Janet Chen, Senior Director of Product Line Management for Lumentum

·       Matt Adams, Senior Product Manager for VIAVI Solutions

Following OFC, you can listen to a special webinar presentation of the event on April 4. Go to our website, www.lightwaveonline.com/webcasts and click on this link shorturl.at/lsGIS  to register.
