JANUARY 20, 2010 -- JDSU (Nasdaq: JDSU; and TSX: JDU) says that Openreach, the local access network division of BT Group, has selected JDSU's HST-3000 handheld broadband access tester for its FTTx roll out.
JDSU says it was selected by Openreach as one of its tester suppliers for its ability to support broadband network performance, reduce truck rolls, and ensure customer service-level agreements are met.
BT Group plans to deliver advanced broadband services at speeds of 40 Mbps to 10 million premises in the U.K. by 2012 (see "BT to expand footprint for UK's fastest broadband"). Openreach owns and manages the local access network that connects homes and businesses across the UK and provides network services to communications providers.
The JDSU HST-3000 is designed to support the cost-effective installation and maintenance of such services. Deployed by service providers worldwide for the installation and maintenance testing of next-generation FTTx technologies and services, the JDSU HST-3000 tests the physical layer, verifies services, and improves network operations processes, the company asserts.
