As a result of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, broadband connectivity is now being deployed in remote areas where service was not provided in the past, utilizing access topologies such as Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Network (GPON). With this expansion carriers face new challenges when installing and maintaining quality access services over existing and new fiber-based network connectivity. This presentation identifies recent trends in broadband connectivity in the fiber-based access market as well as challenges in installation and maintenance and offers practical and timely solutions.
