Over the years multiple types of optical fibers have been developed to meet the demands of a communications society. This session focusses on the types of single-mode and multimode fibers commonly used in fiber optic communication systems (FOCS) and used from premises applications, FTTx installations or high speed long haul systems.
Content includes the evolution of the various types of multimode and single-mode fiber and the various standards groups and their specifications. For those working directly with the fibers a review of intrinsic tolerances for each fiber type is provided. Considerations for those designing systems include the effects and limitations caused by optical dispersion, multimode bandwidth, attenuation and various types of optical multiplexing.
During this webinar you will learn what is important in selecting the correct optical fiber for your application. Information covered will include:
Fiber Characteristics (Bandwidth, dispersion, and attenuation)
Single-mode fiber types
Multimode Fiber types
Fiber Standards
Understanding fiber specifications
