Corning RocketRibbon Extreme Density Cable

Feb. 20, 2019
Corning’s RocketRibbon Extreme Density Cable was developed to meet today’s demand for the highest bandwidth capacity in a duct installation. RocketRibbon provides density up to 3,456 fibers, and offers twice the fiber count in the approximately the same footprint of existing central tube and stranded ribbon tube design cables. The cable thus enables up to 30% faster installation than other high-density ribbon cables designed for data center and carrier environments.

The cable thus enables up to 30% faster installation than other high-density ribbon cables designed for data center and carrier environments. A proprietary ribbon subunit design that enables as many as 12 individually protected subunits, each with 288 closely packed fibers, makes the fibers within RocketRibbon cable easy to manage, identify, and trace – all of which improve install times and lower ongoing maintenance costs.

Judge’s comment: “The RocketRibbon Extreme Density Cable is characterized by significant user benefits. In a world in which density is crucial and pathway space is at a premium, RocketRibbon combines the familiarity and benefits of ribbon cable with the groundbreaking advantages that come with doubling density.”
