Infinera (NASDAQ: INFN) says that Nordic cable operator Agder Breiband has deployed the optical transport systems vendor’s DTN and ATN platforms for a regional fiber-optic network backbone upgrade.
Agder will use the systems to provide high-speed broadband Internet, IPTV, and VoIP services in southern Norway in partnership with Altibox. "We selected Infinera for our network based on the flexibility of their solutions, ease of use, and the ability to provide us with a simplified end-to-end solution for our network," said Terje Abusland, technical manager at Agder. "At Agder, we have a small team and it's critical for us to deploy with solutions that are cost-effective for our business. Infinera's solutions were easy to install and our team was able to deploy the network in 7 days."
"We are pleased to announce Agder Breiband as our first customer in Norway," said Chris Champion, vice president of EMEA sales.
The Infinera DTN platform, the company’s first product, is designed to scale up to 6.4 Tbps of transmission capacity per fiber. The subsequent ATN offers scalable WDM transport with multi-service aggregation capabilities for metro edge applications.
