Telecom Argentina S.A. (BASE: TECO2, NYSE: TEO) and the two backers of the ARBR submarine cable system, Grupo Werthein and Seaborn Networks, have announced that the submarine network will land at Telecom Argentina's cable landing station in Las Toninas, Argentina. Telecom Argentina also will provide dark fiber to backhaul traffic from the landing station to Buenos Aires, where it will provide a point of presence (PoP) for the upcoming undersea system.

ARBR will link Argentina and Brazil, with onward connectivity to the U.S. via the Seabras-1 submarine cable (see “Seaborn Networks, Grupo Werthein to connect Argentina and Brazil via submarine cable” and “Seabras-1 submarine network operational with Infinera XTS-3300 meshponders”). The two subsea cable systems will share a Brazilian landing point in Praia Grande.

"The landing station, backhaul, and PoP to be provided by Telecom Argentina are perfect complements to our ARBR and Seabras-1 systems, enabling customers on ARBR to benefit from the most modern and direct route between Buenos Aires and New York," said Larry Schwartz, chairman and CEO of Seaborn Networks.

Deployment of ARBR is scheduled to begin this year and complete next year. Xtera will deploy the submarine cable system (“Seaborn Networks chooses Xtera for ARBR submarine network systems” and "Xtera to supply Seaborn Networks with C+L Band technology for ARBR submarine network").
