Vodafone Portugal Deploys Ericsson Multiscreen

Vodafone Portugal has integrated Ericsson's (NASDAQ:ERIC) Media Delivery Network solution for multiscreen and online video. The deployment is intended to enable Vodafone Portugal to locate and manage content within its local network by utilizing a virtualized architecture to deliver content closer to the end user.

The Ericsson MDN solution uses a single platform approach and universal cache for streamed video content. Vodafone Portugal's integration of the MDN solution with other deployed Ericsson Media products is intended to improve the distribution of all content, enabling the shift of recordings from set-top-boxes to the cloud and supporting services such as personal recording, catchup and time-shifted services.
