Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO) has launched the cBR-8, an Evolved Converged Cable Access Platform (CCAP). It's designed for DOCSIS 3.1 capabilities and broadband speeds up to 10 Gbps and to scale from 1 Gbps speeds to 10 Gbps. The cBR-8 integrates the previously stand-alone functions required in a cable hub, serving as a "hub-in-a-box" solution.
The cBR-8 is the cornerstone of Cisco's multi-access strategy for cable, which includes PON, service provider WiFi, SDN manageability and cross-platform orchestration, with a migration path to a virtualized, cloud-based solution. Cisco's Migration Service for cBR-8 provides expertise, processes, planning, and support.
