South Korean telco SK Broadband has launched 1 Gbps Internet service. It's based on ARRIS' (NASDAQ:ARRS) E6000 Converged Edge Router (CER), which SK deployed in early 2014. ARRIS says the gigabit service is the first in the Asia-Pacific region.

SK, a triple-play provider, also offers 4K (UHD upscaling) video service, announced in August 2014. SK Broadband serves 2.6 million customers with its IPTV service, growing by 189,000 customers in Q3 last year.
