At Mobile World Congress 2015, Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) is launching a software solution set designed to address growth in demand for mobile broadband, driven by video consumption.

Ericsson's Media Delivery Network is an all-software solution for the delivery of both managed and unmanaged content across fixed and mobile networks. It combines Cache, Optimize, and Connect elements and is intended to help network operators, including pay TV service providers, to capitalize on video-specific revenues and TV Everywhere.

Cache is a virtualized universal caching node designed to be deployed at any level in the network and to offer virtualized services across public, private and hybrid cloud infrastructures.

Optimize is a service-aware gateway combining policy management with traffic, web, and video management. It's designed to optimize cell bandwidth to combat congestion and includes multiscreen edge services.

Connect is a business framework that builds upon an ecosystem of multiple global content distribution networks (CDNs). It now offers business consultative services as well.
