The SCTE has named Daniel Howard to the newly created staff position of SCTE Fellow.
Howard, who has served as senior vice president and CTO of the SCTE since 2010, will focus in his new role on helping the SCTE, SCTE's International Society of Broadband Experts and corporate and individual members to operationalize new technologies. Howard will drive alignment between SCTE/ISBE and CableLabs in such areas as wireless, cybersecurity, DOCSIS 3.1 and the SCTE Energy 2020 program, and he will contribute to the framing of the SCTE's forthcoming Advanced Engineering membership category.
SCTE has begun a search for a new CTO. Howard will continue to oversee SCTE Standards, the SCTE Engineering Committee, and Professional Development until a new CTO is selected.
