Rural Alabama telco Farmers Telecommunications Cooperative is now delivering fiber-based 1 Gbps services in DeKalb and Jackson Counties. Launched last week, FTC's gigabit offering, which includes digital voice, IPTV, security and broadband, are available across the company's entire 2,770-mile fiber network, covering the northeast portion of Alabama between Huntsville and Chattanooga, TN.

Two broadband tiers are available: 1 Gbps symmetrical and 100 Mbps symmetrical. Gigabit services are available to both residential and business customers. The new services use Calix' (NYSE:CALX) B6 Ethernet Service Access Nodes (ESANs) and 716 optical network terminals (ONTs).
