EXFO Seeks to ID DWDM Impairments

EXFO (NASDAQ:EXFO) has unveiled a tool called WDM Investigator, which is designed to enable network operators to reduce troubleshooting time and operational expenses by providing unique identification of DWDM network impairments on a per-channel basis. It's offered as an option on the company's FTB-5240S/BP Optical Spectrum Analyzers.The WDM Investigator is designed to provide insight into link characteristics (including polarization-multiplexed signals and carved noise) and signal impairments, and also to provide an assessment of their severity. Examples of such impairments include PMD depolarization, crosstalk, non-linear effects and carrier leakage.
