shomi, a joint venture owned equally by Rogers Communications (NYSE:RCI) and Shaw Communications (TSX:SJR.B), is now available as a free beta trial to Rogers and Shaw subscribers. The subscription streaming VOD service was announced in August and is available on select tablets and mobile devices, online, and on set top boxes. Once the 30-day free beta trial is over, it'll cost $8.99 a month.
