March 27, 2003--Marconi has chosen to use Acterna's ANT-40G advanced network tester at its optical network research and development labs in Genoa, Italy. Marconi's Genoa facility develops a optical transmission systems and will utilize the ANT-40G to perform functionality tests on its new family of MSH products, a next-generation, integrated add drop multiplexer and cross connect designed to work with line interfaces up to 40-Gbit/sec.
Acterna's ANT-40G was launched this year to allow equipment vendors to shorten product development timelines and decrease development time by verifying that prototype components--including boards, systems and interfaces--are properly designed and are compliant with industry standards.
"We carefully follow our customers' business step by step," explains Paolo Toponi, managing director of Acterna's Italian sales operations. "This partnership is natural because Marconi is a customer that deeply understands its technology and testing requirements, and we develop the test and measurement solutions that fully address Marconi's needs. The ANT-40G is the result of our experience, our commitment to deliver best-of-breed solutions, and the open dialogue we have maintained throughout the years with our major accounts."
"We're grateful to Acterna for their continuous commitment," adds Lorenzo Costagli, Marconi vice president, SDH Italy; "We look for vendors who can align with our strategy, address our requirements, show flexibility, and ensure reliability at the same time. Acterna is available to support us along one of the many critical steps that make up our development projects, which shows they have the know-how and the means to do what we need to ensure we deliver quality products."
