June 9, 2004 Stockholm, Sweden -- Song Networks, a major Pan-Nordic network operator and service provider, has selected WDM equipment from < a href=http://www.transmode.com>Transmode Systems AB to support continued network optimization across all of its territories.
Per the 18-month agreement, Transmode will supply its System 1100 C/DWDM platform for all new metro and access networking applications across each of Song's Nordic territories--Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Denmark. As part of the agreement, Transmode has been granted the exclusive right to supply CWDM equipment to Song, and initial orders have already been issued.
"We have been making significant investments in WDM technology for several years, and we now have one of the most advanced fiber-optic broadband networks in Europe", reports Mats Lundqvist, managing director of Song Networks Svenska AB. "However, to date much of that investment has been directed towards long-haul DWDM technology. When it came to increasing our focus on metro and access networks to optimize the network and reduce leased lines, we were looking for a solution with the right price/performance characteristics that addressed the very different requirements of this part of the network," he explains. "Transmode was the company with that solution."
"We are delighted to be entering this relationship with Song Networks," adds Isaac Olasoko, CEO of Transmode. "Song's unique offering of high-capacity, high-performance data and voice services all the way to the customer premises, over its wholly-owned fiber infrastructure, is a perfect application for Transmode's System 1100 solution."
