Datwyler Cabling Solutions announced a new outdoor fiber cable product that packs 288 fibers (G.652.D) in stranded loose tubes (12x24) into a single cable. The new FTTx outdoor cable is just 10.4 mm in diameter. It targets applications that require easy blowing of fiber into microducts of 12 mm or more internal diameter.
The compact, non-metallic cable boasts a dry interstice design for easy installation and removal. Installers will further benefit from the fiber's attenuation of 0.21 dB/km at 1550 nm and other mechanical properties that provide increased tensile strength (2900 N) and long blowing distances.
