Aug. 8, 2001--Corona Optical Systems, Inc., a producer of high-speed optoelectronic components and subsystems, announced it has begun customer sampling of what the company claims is the first OC-768 VSR parallel optical transmitter and receiver pairs.

Corona Optical Systems, Inc., a producer of high-speed optoelectronic components and subsystems, announced it has begun customer sampling of what the company claims is the first OC-768 VSR parallel optical transmitter and receiver pairs. The optoelectronic devices facilitate efficient, high-speed optical connections in communications and data networking equipment. Corona's modules feature a throughput of 40 Gb/s in a 13mm x 13mm BGA package-roughly the size of a dime, making them the smallest parallel devices available.

In addition to size, speed and reliability, Corona's parallel optical modules feature a Pick & Place compatible BGA package. They are true surface mount devices and can be configured with multiple heat sink options. Corona's devices can also be made available on Tape and Reel.
