Non-mandatory contribution

Telephone, cable, computer and broadcast company executives who recently attended the Republican Party`s telecommunications megaconference in Washington, DC, were asked to make a non-mandatory $25,000 contribution. Attending lawmakers included Senate Commerce Committee chairman Larry Pressler (R-South Dakota) and Senate Communications Subcommittee chairman Bob Packwood (R-Oregon). Sen. Bob Dole (R-Kansas) addressed the group of communications companies` representatives. National Policy Forum spokeswoman Fran Westner, said the contribution had nothing to do with participation in the conference.
