Timbercon touts polarization-maintaining coupler/splitter

FEBRUARY 6, 2009 -- Timbercon coupler/splitters are used to either combine two or more signals into one or split one signal into multiple paths. They are available in 1x2, 1x3, 1x4, 1x8, 2x2, and 2x4 configurations with all industry-standard fiber-optic connectors.

FEBRUARY 6, 2009 -- Timbercon Inc. (search for Timbercon), has announced the availability of Polarization Maintaining (PM) coupler/splitters for a variety of applications and industries. Timbercon has provided custom devices for many applications, say company representatives, and it has now standardized the most common configurations in coupler/splitters.

Timbercon coupler/splitters are used to either combine two or more signals into one or split one signal into multiple paths. They are available in 1x2, 1x3, 1x4, 1x8, 2x2, and 2x4 configurations with all industry-standard fiber-optic connectors--typically FC and FC/APC. Wavelengths supported include 1550 nm, 1310 nm, 1060 nm, 980/960 nm, 780 nm, and 633 nm. Custom wavelengths, connectors, and configurations are also possible.

Each PM coupler/splitter can be purchased in either a ruggedized plastic housing with 3-mm leads or a low-profile stainless steel tube for high-density equipment requirements. In addition to the standard PM coupler/splitter configurations, Timbercon says it still offers customized options for virtually any fiber-optic application.
