COYOTE splice tray organizes and protects bare fiber

SEPTEMBER 18, 2007 — Preformed Line Products (PLP — Cleveland) developed the COYOTE splice tray with LITE-GRIP technology to permit larger-bend radii, increase splice density, and protect fiber during installation and adjustment.

The LITE-GRIP offering comprises retention sleeves to secure bare fiber entering the tray, splice blocks to affix and protect fiber splices from movement and vibration, and ribbon managers to organize fiber bundles within storage compartments. These components are said to eliminate tie wraps, and are formed from soft material to prevent over-compression during installation and adjustments. They accommodate single and multiple buffer tubes, as well as pigtail grip configurations. Blue and orange color coding helps identify and manage central office and field fiber.

Splice blocks can increase splice density within the splice tray. They are said to be simple to install and move, and fit most locations on the tray. These are available for single fusion and ribbon applications.

The tray suits space constraints encountered with next-generation fiber networks while accommodating larger-bend radii. It is compatible with PLP's existing COYOTE fiber-optic splice closures.
