EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering Inc. has introduced a Multi-Path Testing Option for its IQ-12004B DWDM Passive Component Test System.

The Multi-Path Testing Option enables users to perform spectral characterization of multiple components or components that have multiple input ports. Key parameters measured include insertion loss, polarization dependent loss, and optical return loss.

The full system, which includes the DWDM Passive Component Test System and an optical switch with all the necessary accessories, is ideal for environmental testing of DWDM passive components, testing of optical cross-connects, testing of arrayed components like variable optical attenuators, and testing of DWDM multiplexers.

"EXFO's next-generation DWDM Passive Component Test System has already gained wide acceptance for its high accuracy and short testing time," contends Mario Larose, vice president of marketing at EXFO. "With our Multi-Path Testing Option, we have taken the next critical step by integrating an optical switch inside a flexible software environment, so that manufacturers don't have to worry about developing work-around solutions for testing multiple components or components that have multiple input ports. This new option will save our customers enormous in-house development efforts, while at the same time provide them with superior measurement results," he adds.

EXFO (Quebec) designs and manufactures fiber-optic test, measurement, and automation solutions for the global telecommunications industry. For more information, visit the company's Web site at www.exfo.com.
