U.S. fiber-optic network services provider Maine Fiber Company and Canadian counterpart F6 Networks have combined to provide a dark fiber service between the U.S. and the Fibre Centre access point in Moncton, New Brunswick. The pairing creates access to long-haul dark fiber in a network-neutral colocation environment.

Fibre Centre was created to provide a strategic access point to the numerous fiber-based submarine network and terrestrial carrier networks that pass through the Province of New Brunswick. Through the agreement with F6 Networks, Maine Fiber has extended the dark fiber route it established between Boston and the Canadian border in 2012 to Moncton. The agreement calls for a further extension to Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The end-to-end fiber network is engineered to support long haul traffic and is operated on an open-access basis.
