Ekinops supplies coherent 100G systems to Türk Telekom International Datagroup

Türk Telekom International has deployed Ekinops 100-Gbps coherent optical transport technology on its network between Germany and Ukraine. The link connects to a fiber-optic network operated by Datagroup of the Ukraine, another Ekinops 100G customer, to create further reach into Russia, a total distance of 3600 km.

Both the international data and wholesale voice service provider company of Türk Telekom Group and Datagroup are using the Ekinops 360 platform to transmit coherent 100G signals as alien wavelengths on their existing long-haul DWDM networks. The operators can configure the Ekinops 100G 1RU equipment either as 100G transponders or as muxponders for aggregation of 10G services into 100G. The 100G signals travel on a 50-GHz grid, running alongside existing 10G and 40G traffic without making changes to the existing network.

"Building this coherent 100G service on the existing infrastructure of both Türk Telekom International and Datagroup was a major achievement for all the teams involved. With excellent support from the Ekinops team and the cooperation between the relevant parties, we managed to rapidly deliver an end-to-end native 100G connection in line with our end-customer’s expectations," said Albert Kis, CTO at Türk Telekom International.

“This extension of the network is important for Ukraine. The presence of a direct link with Western Europe will allow us to increase traffic and improve service to our customers,” added Aleksandr Danchenko, CEO of Datagroup.
