Optical module specialist Champion ONE has added GPON and 10G EPON optical transceivers for fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) applications to its Passport line of universal transceivers.

For GPON, Champion ONE is offering SFP transceivers for both optical line terminal (OLT) and optical network terminal (ONT) interfaces. The company will support 10G EPON via both SFP+ and XFP transceivers; the SFP+ handles both OLT and optical network unit (ONU) needs, while the XFP will meet OLT requirements only.

“With the advent of streaming video and other high-speed services, the need for higher bandwidth continues to fuel growth in demand for FTTP applications. Companies like Verizon, Google, Comcast and AT&T are investing heavily in this fast-growing market,” said John Jutila, Champion ONE CEO. “Now with our new portfolio of GPON and EPON products, Champion ONE is well positioned to help meet the needs of these service providers and others that require demanding OLT and ONU transceiver deployment support and value.”

The MSA-compliant transceivers are offered direct replacements for hot pluggable OEM transceivers and carry a 5-year warranty.
