Photon Advanced Technologies launches small-form-factor polarization-maintaining cable assemblies

December 17, 2001--Photon Advanced Technologies LLC has launched its new small form factor (SFF) polarizing-maintaining (PM) cable assembly line. Photon Advanced has also added LC and MU to its current PM cable assembly portfolio.

Required for any system in which a polarization state must be maintained (for example, for pump combiners or for laboratory use), PM has only recently become available in SFF, claims the company. Fiber-optic companies that use PM fiber in their systems can now utilize a product which gives them the high density application benefits associated with LC and MU connector products.

Photon's polarization-maintaining cable assemblies feature a standard return loss better than 50dB and a standard insertion loss performance of 0.5dB (against master, per connector). They are available with either 2-mm or 1.6-mm cable, or 900-micron buffered fiber.
