OE Solutions intros RoHS-compliant bi-directional SFP transceivers

March 7, 2006 Irvine, CA -- OE Solutions America, a supplier of optoelectronic transceiver devices for optical communications, has expanded its bi-directional single fiber SFP transceiver portfolio to include fully RoHS-compliant bi-directional SFPs that support both SC and LC connector types.

March 7, 2006 Irvine, CA -- OE Solutions America, a supplier of optoelectronic transceiver devices for optical communications, has expanded its bi-directional single fiber SFP transceiver portfolio to include fully RoHS-compliant bi-directional SFPs that support both SC and LC connector types.

According to the company, the new family of single fiber transceivers is available in data rates from 125 Mbit/sec to 2.5 Gbit/sec. The 125-Mbit/sec to 1.25-Gbit/sec transceivers support distances from 2 km to 80 km; the 2.5-Gbit/sec transceivers support distances from 2 to 40 km. The entire product family conforms to the SFP multi-source agreement and supports the industrial temperature range of -40 to +85°C.

Additionally, the transceivers are compliant with the European Parliament restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances directive. The RoHS directive aims to protect human health and the environment through the restricted use of certain hazardous substances. The directive states that from July 1, 2006 lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, and polybrominated diphenyl ether will be banned from new electrical and electronic equipment.

"Single fiber solutions are have grown in popularity over the last year, and supporting both SC and LC fiber connectors allows communications equipment companies to provide their customers with an option to match their fiber plant," comments Mike Fukatsu, director of sales and marketing for OE Solutions.
