DiCon Fiberoptics releases Polarization Beam Combiner/Isolator hybrid

March 6, 2002--DiCon Fiberoptics Inc. has announced the commercial availability of its Polarization Beam Combiner/Isolator (PBCI) hybrid, a component that integrates a polarization beam combiner and a single-stage isolator in a single component package for use in EDFA or Raman amplifiers.

DiCon Fiberoptics Inc., manufacturer of fiber-optic components, modules, and test instruments, has announced the commercial availability of its Polarization Beam Combiner/Isolator (PBCI) hybrid, a component that integrates a polarization beam combiner and a single-stage isolator in a single component package for use in EDFA or Raman amplifiers.

The PBCI's polarization beam combiner section multiplexes two orthogonally polarized pump signals to increase combined pump power. The isolator section prevents any destabilizing of the pump lasers from back-reflected or back-scattered light. The PBCI has been designed for use with up to 1.5 Watts of combined power.
