165 Halsey Street data center adds fifth colocation room

The popular 165 Halsey Street data center in Newark, NJ, has added a fifth collocation room. Located on the 11th floor of the facility, Colocation Room V adds 31,000 square feet of colocation space to the facility, which now offers 1.2 million square foot of data center/colocation/telecom carrier hotel space as well as power and interconnection services.

Located on the 11th floor of the facility, Colocation Room V adds 31,000 square feet of colocation space to the facility, which now offers 1.2 million square foot of data center/colocation/telecom carrier hotel space as well as power and interconnection services.

The facility also now offers DC power for the first time. This type of power is of particular interest to telecom companies, according to a company press release (see, for example, "UK’s BSO tackles U.S. fiber services market with metro New York City connections").

Facility management added the new room in response to increasing demand for colocation services that has seen the first two colocation rooms fully booked and the third 75% committed.

"It's been exciting to watch our colocation business grow since we introduced our first 'Meet Me Room' in 2000," says Joseph Simone, president at Tishman Real Estate Services for 165 Halsey Street. "Recently we've seen an uptick in demand for our colocation services and after considering a variety of options to meet that demand, decided to expand to the 11th floor of our facility to create Colocation Room V. Colocation Room V is operational and our team is ready to take on new customers at any time."

The 165 Halsey facility is carrier-neutral, SSAE 16-certified, and independently owned and operated.
