AFL bolsters wireless market position with Forza Telecom acquisition

The purchase will give the company an entrée into the sports venue market that’s increasingly enhancing its wireless capabilities.

AFL bolsters wireless market position with Forza Telecom acquisition.

AFL has acquired Forza Telecom, operating as DGP (DAS Group Professionals), a turnkey service and solutions provider based in Walnut Creek, CA, expanding its solutions portfolio with specialized indoor and outdoor Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) capabilities.

Founded in 2010, Forza Telecom has made a name for itself by providing DAS installations to some of North America’s most prominent sports venues. Over the years, Forza Telecom has maintained a solid track record in delivering quality-focused customized solutions with extensive experience in targeted geographies.

The acquisition will strengthen AFL's U.S. Services' existing position in wireless networking for U.S. sports venues in the West and Southwest while also expanding Forza Telecom's presence in the Southeast region. Additionally, AFL enhances Forza Telecom's capabilities in complex RF design, large-scale installation, ongoing monitoring and maintenance services.

"With the addition of Forza Telecom to AFL's wireless service portfolio of Beam Wireless and Optical Telecom (OTS), AFL is elevating our position and enhancing our service offering in the DAS wireless market," explained Seneca Mullins, president of AFL's U.S. Services. "Our combined expertise and capabilities will drive our ability to provide a more comprehensive, full-service solution that includes monitoring and maintenance and serves a wide range of customers."

Forza Telecom has become part of the AFL U.S. Services’ Division under the leadership of Seneca Mullins. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

While Forza is AFL’s latest DAS acquisition, it’s not the only one it has made in this segment. In 2019, AFL acquired Optical Telecom, which supported its strategy to expand its footprint across the Southwest and Southeast and complement its existing enterprise services. Earlier in 2014, AFL’s Enterprise Services launched its Heterogeneous Network (HetNet) solutions business, including in-building wireless, small cell and Wi-Fi solutions.

DAS is on track to be a $20B market

The research firm attributes the growth to several factors: rising usage of mobile devices, the surge in data consumption, and new technologies such as 5G and the IoT. DAS solutions provide a means to enhance wireless connectivity in various environments, including commercial buildings, public venues, transportation hubs, and healthcare facilities, which is expected to fuel the adoption of DAS solutions.

Within the DAS market, Global Market Insights said that the hybrid DAS market would see ongoing growth. It forecasts the segment to exceed $8 billion by 2032. Hybrid DAS combines active and passive components to enhance wireless coverage and capacity in various environments. This approach allows wireless operators to leverage cellular and Wi-Fi technologies, optimizing network performance and ensuring seamless connectivity for users.
