Sumitomo Intros Handheld Splicer

Sumitomo Electric Lightwave has introduced the Quantum Type-QH201e-VS handheld fusion splicer, the fourth in its Quantum Splicer line. The Quantum Handheld replaces the TomCatType-25eU/S/M and adds automated features.

The V-groove splicer is 110x140x76 millimeters and is designed for 12-second typical splice time. It features a navigational touch screen interface as well as a traditional keypad; Internet Interface for 24/7 remote diagnostics and maintenance; and an SD port for data storage for software, training, video, and audio uploads/downloads. The splicer is designed for shock, water, and dust resistance, as well as RoHS compliance. It includes a fiber holder system, extended-life electrodes, built-in help and maintenance videos, and Lynx2 CustomFit Splice-On Connector compatibility.
