Telco Systems emphasizes density with T-Metro 8001 Carrier Ethernet platform

Telco Systems, a BATM company (LSE: BVC, TASE: BATM), has unveiled the T-Metro 8001 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) service aggregation platform. The platform crams the kind of capacity normally found in chassis-based systems into a pizza box, which should benefit mobile backhaul applications where capacity demands are growing beyond 1 GbE, says a company source.

Telco Systems, a BATM company (LSE: BVC, TASE: BATM), has unveiled the T-Metro 8001 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) service aggregation platform. The platform crams the kind of capacity normally found in chassis-based systems into a pizza box, which should benefit mobile backhaul applications where capacity demands are growing beyond 1 GbE, says a company source.

The T-Metro 8001 offers a 200GbE capacity, double the capacity in one third the size of its closest competitor, Telco Systems asserts. This makes it the most compact, dense, and cost-effective 10GbE service aggregation switch in the Carrier Ethernet market today, the company claims.

“The T-Metro 8001 is designed for service providers who need the reliability of traditional SONET/SDH networks’ quality of service and the flexibility to deliver multiple services at 1/10GbE port rates in a metro Ethernet environment,“ said Moshe Shimon, VP product management at Telco Systems, via a press release. “In today’s economy, this product assures an exceptional level of experience for the end-user while optimizing the carrier resources.”

The T-Metro 8001 continues Telco System’s strategy of extending MPLS toward the edge. The company delivers the MPLS capability license-free, an uncommon benefit within the industry, the source told Lightwave. Merging MPLS and Ethernet in one platform future-proofs providers’ networks and reduces the risks associated with the choice of transport technology, the company says. With 20 ports of 1/10GbE in a 1RU chassis, the T-Metro 8001 enables wide-scale Carrier Ethernet 2.0 (CE2.0) adoption, implementation, and service creation. With extensive, high scale, hardware-based OAM, including hardware-based Y.1731, RFC2544, and Y.1564, the product allows providers to offer real-time SLA measurement and assurance, the company concludes.
