Microchip Technology’s DIGI-G5 is a Flexible Ethernet (FlexE) enabled and Ethernet-optimized Optical Transport Network (OTN) processor that enables terabit OTN switching cards for flexible optical networks. DIGI-G5 delivers 1.2 Tbps of combined OTN and client interfaces; Microchip asserts it is first to market with support for newly standardized 25 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE), 50GbE, 200GbE, 400GbE, FlexO, and FlexE as well as an integrated security engine.

It enables delivers “beyond 100G” OTN transport support for cloud‑scale 100G+ packet-optical, OTN switching, DWDM, and data center interconnect optical networking applications.
