Innovative Systems' set-top box platform aids Norvado's streaming IPTV conversion

Oct. 12, 2022
The fully hosted MG‐TV Live Streaming platform from Innovative Systems is providing a fresh customer experience for the newly-launched NorvadoTV brand.

Based in Cable, Wisconsin, longtime IPTV video provider Norvado reports that it is moving toward a streaming-only video service, and is employing Innovative Systems' model IS‐5041W set-top box to ease this transition for its existing IPTV customers.

According to Norvado's chief marketing officer Leo Carlson, the NorvadoTV streaming service was launched this past August and moving forward will be the only video service offered by the company. Customers who subscribe to NorvadoTV can also use their favorite consumer streaming devices to connect with the new service.

"The advantage of having the Innovative Systems IS‐5041W STB is that Norvado can connect it to the new streaming service and the customer will have the same remote and guide interaction that they have had with their IPTV service," says Carlson.

The fully hosted MG‐TV Live Streaming platform from Innovative Systems is providing the new customer experience for the NorvadoTV brand. According to Norvado marketing director Chad Mix, "Customers are very happy with the features and functionality of the new streaming service."

Innovative Systems is a vendor of technologies for North American communications and utility providers with over 800 deployed systems to its credit. eLation, the company's BSS/OSS solution, includes integrated billing, provisioning, mobile apps, financials, and mapping.

MG‐TV is the company's one‐platform approach to video technologies such as middleware, VOD, cloud DVR, restart TV, HLS live streaming, conditional access, and set‐top boxes.

Meanwhile, the company's APMAX platform provides enhanced voice and hosted business solutions. Further, the Innovative Systems Print Division is a full‐service printing company specializing in print services for the telecommunications and utilities industries.

Norvado's stated corporate goal is to have broadband as its lead product, and the company says it wants to keep customers informed on all the different streaming options it offers. Norvado bundles phone and internet with a live streaming video package of local channels, then provides customers with a monthly credit towards other popular streaming services of their choice.

Norvado's Carlson concludes, "It’s important to take a lead position in educating customers when it comes to streaming, and the Norvado team is working towards creating tutorial collateral to help with that process. If a service provider wants to stay in the video business, but move to streaming, education is vital for the core of older customers that many rural video operators serve today."
