Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) Fiber has begun its fiberhood signup process in the south and southeast areas of Austin, TX. Google says it will be opening new areas of the city for signups on an ongoing basis, with the intent of bringing the service to every neighborhood that wants it. Unlike the initial signups in Kansas City, in Austin the service is available to small businesses as well as residential customers.

Three plans are available:

  • Gigabit Internet and TV (150 channels) for $130 a month
  • Gigabit Internet for $70 a month ($100 a month for businesses)
  • Basic Internet (5 Mbps down/1 Mbps up) has no monthly fee, but requires a $300 construction fee
