SiTune has released its latest cable RF front end chipset, the STN93321, for DOCSIS 3.1 modems and gateways.

The new STN93321 cable tuner is designed to acquire and digitize the 54 MHz to 1,218 MHz downstream spectrum to support multi-gigabit broadband access. It is also capable of transmitting upstream OFDMA channels up to the frequency of 204 MHz per DOCSIS 3.1. The chipset is designed to deliver 32 QAM and two OFDM (192 MHz) downstream channels over multiple high-speed SERDES interface lines to Intel mPuma Processors. A complete D3.1 Reference design based on STN93321 is available and tested according to CableLabs ATP requirements.

The STN93321 is designed based on "Total Spectrum Reception (TSR) technology which is a low-power, high dynamic range patented architecture for full DOCSIS 3.1 frequency band reception. At its core, TSR technology integrates multi-gigabit data converters with an RF front-end, while utilizing both digital correction and DSP algorithms.

The STN93321 features a narrowband tuner for power outage support, SPI interface for chip programming, and a built-in spectrum monitoring tool. The tool performs as a spectrum analyzer for signals in both downstream and upstream at the same time to support Proactive Network Maintenance (PNM). The STN93321 is also designed to be built into Remote PHY Nodes.

STN93321 devices have been sampling since Q2'19, with full production scheduled for Q1'20.
