California-based Internet service provider (ISP) Sonic will be expanding its Gigabit Fiber Internet service to the San Francisco area's East Bay to include parts of Berkeley and Albany, along with parts of El Cerrito, Kensington and Oakland. The company says the expansion is its largest to date.
Sonic will offer unlimited, uncapped Gigabit Fiber Internet plus international home phone service starting at $40 per month.

"As deregulation continues to threaten the competitive marketplace for ISPs, it's more important than ever for customers to have choices when selecting an Internet provider. Today's news brings us one step closer toward our goal of bringing faster, affordable Internet to all Bay Area residents."
Earlier this year, Sonic expanded its San Francisco service to the southern portion of The Mission and the surrounding communities of Noe Valley, The Castro, Dolores Heights, Glen Park, Potrero Hill and Sunnyside.
