Oscilloquartz, an ADVA Optical Networking company, says its OSA 5420 series is a compact, power-efficient PTP grandmaster featuring an integrated GNSS receiver and NTP server.
This product can support more than 1,000 remote PHY devices (RPD) with highly precise timing using IPv6 unicast as defined with G8275.2. The OSA 5420 supports services teams with sophisticated Syncjack synchronization assurance functions for analyzing clock accuracy of selectable input signals, as well as the accuracy of PTP packets and the packet delay statistics of the data network. In addition, it provides what the company says is best-in-class backup to GNSS outages using advanced clock recovery based on PTP, Sync-E and high-end oscillators. The integrated GNSS receiver allows UTC traceability with an absolute accuracy of +/-100 nsec. Hardware-processing of timestamps is a prerequisite for achieving this level of precision. The accurate time improves PTP accuracy by calibrating for the asymmetric delay of the data network. The OSA 5420 series consists of application-optimized variants with oscillators for different stability requirements. All devices support in-service swappable, redundant power supplies, four Ethernet ports, and up to two extension slots.
